The socket (1a) at the base of the lever rides on the ball (3) which is formed around a bar which is part of the moulded floor mounting (5). The diameter of the opening in the socket (1a) is less than that of the ball, allowing a push-fit which is accommodated by the groove (1b). The forked end (1c,1d) of the lever projects to connect to the gear-change control rod (B) of the gearbox.
