HOT ROLLED STEEL SHEET FOR DRUM CAN, ITS PRODUCTION AND HIGH STRENGTH DRUM CAN MADE OF STEEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a hot rolled steel sheet for a drum can excellent in formability, weldability and seaming properties and having high strength after can-making and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This steel sheet has a compsn. contg., by weight, <=0.10% C, <=0.20% Si, <=1.0% Mn, <=0.04% P, <=0.03% S,% <=0.150% Al, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. To which, N is, in particular, largely added by 0.0050 to 0.0200%. The hot rolling finishing temp. in hot rolling is regulated to >=800 deg.C, within 2 sec after the completion of the hot rolling, forced cooling is started, and it is coiled at <=680 deg.C coiling temp. to form into a hot rolled sheet. Furthermore, this hot rolled sheet is preferably subjected to skinpass rolling or pickling-skinpass rolling. The hot rolled steel sheet obtd. by the above producing method is used for at least one among a barrel board, a top board and a ground board to form into a high strength drum can made of steel.
