PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful for herbicides, harmful organism- controlling agents, and plant disease-controlling agents. SOLUTION: This compound is N-0532 shown by the formula (R<1> is Cl; and R<2> is H or methyl). The physicochemical properties of N-0532 are as follows; molecular weight: 372; composition formula: C19 H13 O6 Cl; appearance and color: neutral substance of yellow needle crystal; solubility: easily soluble in chloroform, ethyl acetate, acetone, and methanol, and slightly soluble in water. The compound of the formula is obtained by incubating a microorganism having an ability of producing the compound of N-0532, Phoma sp. No.0386 strain (FERM P-16244), in a culture medium aerobically and subjecting the resultant culture to separation and purification process. The compound has a microbicidal effect on agricultural harmful insects such as Green rice leafhopper, Brown planthopper, and Spodoptera litura, sanitation harmful insects such as red spider, fly, German cockroach, and stored grain harmful insects, etc. Also, it is useful for controlling plant diseases such as cucumber powdery mildew, downy mildew, rice blast disease, and rust and weeds such as cocklebur, Amaranthus retroflexus, and ragweed. |
