PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To derive the index of vehicle turning characteristics by calculating the stability factor of a rear tandem vehicle according to the specific relationship between the stability factor and the yaw rate of the vehicle based on a vehicle speed, a front wheel steering angle, an actual yaw rate, and a set equivalent distance between axles. SOLUTION: A stability factor A of a vehicle is calculated from an expression I by detecting a vehicle speed V, a front wheel steering angleδ, a yaw rateγbeing generated in the vehicle. In this case, an equivalent distance L between axles is calculated from an expression II. However, L1 indicates the distance between front and rear front axles, L2 indicates the distance between the front and rear rear axles, L3 indicates the distance between rear front and rear rear axles, X1 indicates the representative value of the cornering power ratio of the rear front wheel for the front wheel, and X2 indicates the representative value of the cornering power ratio of the rear rear wheel for the front wheel. |
