PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a jumbo cord having an ultrahigh breaking force with a slight dispersion. SOLUTION: This steel cord for reinformng rubber is obtained by regulating the tensile strengthΣ1 of an outer layer wire 2c and the tensile strengthΣ0 of an inner layer wire 2b in each side strand 2 to 0.80<=Σ1 /Σ0 <=0.95 in the steel cord of the type in which six side strands 2 of a (1+6+12) structure are laid around the core strand 1 of the (1+6+12) structure.
