PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerization catalyst which can realize the production of a poly(α-olefin) having high stereoregularity and good flowability. SOLUTION: This catalyst consists of a solid component (A) comprising essentially magnesium, titanium, halogen atoms and an electron-donating compound, trimethylaluminum (B), an alkylalkoxysilane compound (C) and an aluminum compound (D) represented by the formula: Rn AlCl3-n (wherein R is a 1-10C branched, cyclic or linear alkyl or aryl; and 0<=n<3).
