PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform feedback control of exhaust gas in EGR always correctly so as to prevent an emission failure by temporarily heightening the temperature of an electric heater to incinerate accumulated particulates so as to regenerate a detecting element in a heater control device and a heater control method for an oxygen concentration sensor for a diesel engine. SOLUTION: In order to judge whether to be the incineration timing of particulates and to judge whether to execute incineration, an ECU detects the operating state of an engine and judges whether the detected engine operating state is a steady state. In case of the engine operating state being the steady state, the ECU judges whether the output value of an oxygen concentration sensor is within the specified value or the specified value or more. In case of the specified value or more, the temperature of an electric heater is heightened to incinerate particulates.
