PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently purify a gas to be purified by forming a gas passing port so as to have a tapered form in which its passage sectional area is contracted from the inlet part toward the outlet part in a catalyst structure having a catalyst layer on the inside surface of a number of gas passing holes provided substantially in parallel to each other at prescribed intervals. SOLUTION: A catalyst structure 1 has a number of gas passing ports 2 provided substantially in parallel to each other at prescribed intervals. The gas passing port 2 is formed to have a tapered form in which the passage sectional area is contracted from an inlet part 2a toward an outlet part 2b. Thus, since the gas pressure can be kept in the whole gas passing port 2 area, or gradually raised toward the downstream side even if a passing gas is cooled in the gas passing port 2 and reduced in volume, the gas penetration to a catalyst component 5 can be promoted in the whole gas passing port 2 area. Since a mixture of the passing gas with a reducing agent can be efficiently brought into contact with the catalyst component 5 to promote the chemical reaction, thus, the purifying performance can be improved. |
