<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an equipment for decomposing Freon or the total quantity of Freon contained in a mixture completely. SOLUTION: Freon, e.g. Freon-12 or Freon-11, a combustion accelerator, e.g. a straight chain hydrocarbon including methane and propane, and a gas containing oxygen, e.g. the air, are previously mixed and burnt. Consequently, the straight chain hydrocarbon is decomposed and dissociation of molecule progresses to produce various radicals. When the combustion gas thereof is brought into contact with a conduction heating element comprising a nichrome wire, various radicals are produced furthermore. Combustion and decomposition of Freon are accelerated by these radicals and temperature rise effect and the total quantity of Freon is decomposed completely. When the exhaust gas is brought into contact with an alkaline aqueous solution, e.g. sodium hydrate or calcium hydrate, and treated, a noxious compounds, e.g. hydrogen chloride and hydrogen fluoride, can be converted into an innoxious compound, e.g. sodium fluoride. Mole ratio of Freon to the gaseous straight chain hydrocarbon is in the range of 1.0-1.8.</p> |
