PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain wind whistle or noise due to vibration to be low and to realize quiet sound by providing a side wall facing to the side surface of a light deflecting unit and a canopy member covering over the upper part of the light deflecting unit. SOLUTION: A driving motor 21 driving and rotating a rotary polygon mirror 22 is constituted of a coil (stator) on a housing 101 side and a magnet (rotor) on the mirror 22 side. The upper end face of the housing 101 of the light deflecting unit is brought into press-contact by a cover member (internal cover) 102 and an elastic sealing member, and the upper opening space of the housing 101 is hermetically sealed. The upper end face of the wall surface of a wall body 20A in which the light deflecting unit 100 is housed and fixed out of an optical device main body (image writing part easing) 20 in which the optical member of the scanning optical device is housed is brought into press-contact by the canopy member 206 hermetically sealing the upper space of the wall body 20A and the elastic sealing member 207, and the upper opening space of the wall body 20A is hermetically sealed.
