NITRILE-BASED RESIN AND PREPARATION THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nitrile-based resin excellent in the balance of the molding processability in injection molding and the impact resistance of the injection- molded products and a process for preparing the same. SOLUTION: A nitrile-based resin is obtained by the graft polymerization of 100 pts.wt. monomer mixture comprising 60-80 pts.wt. unsaturated nitrile and 5-40 pts.wt. ethyl acrylate as the essential components and other monomers copolymerizable therewith in the presence of 1-30 pts.wt. conjugated diene-based rubber-like polymer having not less than 50 wt.% conjugated diene units in an aqueous medium and has a weight average molecular weight of the matrix component composed of the monomer mixture alone excluding the rubber component in the nitrile-based resin of from 50,000 to less than 100,000 and a degree of polydispersity of the weight average molecular weight divided by the number average molecular weight of 1.1-2.0.
