PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an orientation treatment method capable of imparting uniform orientability over the entire surface of oriented layers. SOLUTION: Plural lines of dummy terminals 21 consisting of transparent electrodes 102 are arranged between respective external connecting terminal groups 102b and on the outer side of the external connecting terminal groups 102b at both ends of an effective display region 104. The film thicknesses of the respective dummy terminals 21 are the same as the film thicknesses of the respective external connecting terminal groups 102a and the terminal widths and inter-terminal spacings of the respective dummy terminals 21 are set the same as those of the respective external connecting terminal groups 102a according to the pattern shapes of the respective external connecting terminal groups 102a. The alignment marks 107a and test patterns 105a, 106a formed on a transparent insulating substrate 101 are arranged in such positions where the part of rubbing cloth RBb passing on the effective display region 104 do not pass over the alignment marks 107a and respective test patterns 105a, 106a at the time of subjecting a rubbing roller RB to an orientation treatment. |
