PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject chemical having extremely improved foaming magnification and capable of allowing a cost to be reduced by combining a liquid obtained by allowing the liquid consisting essentially of an aqueous solution of sodium silicate to contain 2-methylimidazole, with the liquid containing an isocyanate component and a reactive diluent. SOLUTION: This chemical for hardening bedrock is obtained by combining (A) a liquid consisting essentially of (i) an aqueous solution of sodium silicate (water glass) and containing (ii) 2-methylimidazole, with (B) the liquid containing (i) an isocyanate component (e.g. xylylene diisocyanate) and (ii) a reactive diluent (e.g. methyl Cellosolve). Preferably, the component A contains >=30 wt.% component A(i) and 0.3-5 wt.% component A(ii), and the component B contains 160 wt.% component B(i) and 1-40 wt.% component B(ii). The objective chemical for hardening the bedrock is preferably used by regulating the mixing weight ratio of the components A to B so as to be (1/0.5) (1/5).
