CLINICAL TISSUE EXAMINATION

A clinician (1) examines breast tissue (3) of a patient (5) by translating across the breast tissue an array of pressure sensors installed in the sensor head (55) of the tissue examination device (10). Tissue examination device (10) also includes a computer console (11) that provides the main user interface between the clinician, and the device. The tissue examination device (10) obtains signals from the array of sensors, and processes them. These signals correspond to the pressure with which the tissue "pushes back" against the sensor head. In a mode of operation console (11) displays a 3D image of the pressure signatures of the tissue underlying the sensor head (55).
