A steering apparatus including a master mechanism and a slave mechanism interconnected by a pair of sheathed cables (13, 14) the master mechanism having a first pair of fixed sheathing end mounts (24) secured to respective first ends of the sheathings and a first pair of cable end mounts (23) movable with respect to the first pair of fixed sheathing end mounts (24) and secured to an end of each cable (13, 14), the slave mechanism including a second pair of fixed sheathing end mounts (33) secured to the other end of the respective sheathings and a second pair of cable end mounts (31) movable with respect to the second pair of fixed sheathing end mounts (33) and secured to the other end of each respective cable (13, 14), the steering apparatus being such that upon activation of the master mechanism one of said cables (13, 14) moves in a first direction through its sheathing to activate the slave mechanism and the other of the cables (13, 14) moves in an opposite direction through its sheathing.
