A pivot mounted first pair of drive discs (2.1, 2.2) is connected to the drive shaft (11). A second pivot mounted pair of drive discs (4.1, 4.2) is joined to the driven shaft (12). The facing sides of the drive discs are conical or crowned. A continuous transmission element transfers torque from the drive to the driven shaft. Two adjusting rocker bars (6.1, 6.2) are on opposite sides of the transmission element for altering the effective diameter of the drive discs.
