Connection arrangement for electric wires in explosive environment

The arrangement (10) for connecting insulated electric wires (16), especially for use in areas at risk of explosion, comprises a hollow cylindrical sleeve unit (12) in which the insulation of the wires is removed and the conductors are in contact. A protrusion (14) with an external thread (18), and a U-shaped cover nut (20) with an internal thread (22) are provided. The wall of the sleeve has an inner plastic layer (50) with a high electrical breakdown resistance (greater than 10<1>6 OMICRON /*cm), and a second layer (52) with a lower specific breakdown resistance (1000-2000 OMICRON /*cm). The two layers preferably consist of PTFE.
