One end of a charge air line (10) is connected via an intercooler (12) to an exhaust turbocharger at one end. At the other end, a chamber (13) is provided to increased volume of air. Preferably a shutoff member (14) is positioned between the charge air line and the chamber, actuated as a function of the engine speed.
