<p>The navigation system (20) has a display (24) for displaying vehicle service reminders and an input device (26) to permit the driver to define vehicle service intervals. The navigation system (20) further includes a database (28) connected into a CPU (22). A wheel speed sensor (40) continuously inputs distance data into the CPU (22). A GPS system receiver (34) continuously inputs data and time data into the CPU (22). The CPU (22) compares the time and distance data to user defined vehicle service intervals. When the time or time distance have exceeded the user defined vehicle service intervals, the CPU (22) generates a vehicle service reminder on the display. The driver can then request the navigation system to guide the driver to an appropriate vehicle service location.</p> |
