An apparatus for the fractional recovery of constituents from exhaled breath according to the parent patent comprises a fibrous fleece or porous material which is in the form of a sheet or column and optionally contains binding antibodies for biologically active substances. An Independent claim is included for the detection of constituents in exhaled breath where the process is carried out without an isolation step using peroxidase-, phosphatase-, acetylcholinesterase- or biotin-labelled secondary antibodies and staining substances or dyestuffs.
