In a packaging process, a supply of small cartons with their contents are fed to a machine and grouped. Each group is then placed in an outer carton whose blank is drawn from a stack and wrapped around the group. When the packaging machine is started up for each phase of production, both the feed of small grouped cartons and the feed of carton blanks is first arrested. The feed for both units is started simultaneously.
