The present invention regards heregulin variants (HRG-gamma) with a truncated EGF domain and cDNA sequences encoding such variants. The present invention also regards the pharmaceutical application of such heregulins and diagnostic and therapeutic agents derived from such heregulins or their nucleotide sequences, respectively.
