A method of identifying a compound which modulates glucose-6-phosphatase activity in a mammal the method comprising the step of determining, directly or indirectly, whether said compound changes the level of expression of glucose 6-phosphatase enzyme in a cell. Preferably, the compound is contacted with a cell, the cell comprising a genetic construct comprising a glucose-6-phosphatase enzyme gene promoter operably linked to a reporter gene. Compounds identifiable by the method are useful in medicine. |
