The invention relates to a drive system for a partition wall system comprised of a plurality of individual elements which horizontally move on or in a guide track, said track being fastened to the ceiling, via rollers or corresponding means. Said individual elements can move such that they can be automatically brought from a successive arrangement thereof into a parked position. At least one part of the individual elements comprises separate driving means (14, 23). The relevant element(s) can be moved along the guide track by the driving means. Said elements can be moved independently of or at the same time as the other elements. The drive system comprises a central control unit (1) having a microprocessor and different memories. The output signal of the control unit transmits data and addresses over at least one two-wire connection (databus) to all driving means (14, 23) simultaneously in order to control the driving means (14, 23) of the individual elements which permits the individual elements and additional auxiliary functions for or in the individual elements to be individually controlled and regulated. The modification of data and addresses is carried out via an operator terminal (29).
