In a filter element in which filtering gaps are formed by the spaces between a perforated filter drum and a profiled wire, the filter drum (1) has an internal thread (3) for receiving the tensioned profiled wire (6) which has been bent to a diameter exceeding that of the thread. An Independent claim is also included for the production of the above filter element by winding the profiled wire from a rotating mandrel (4) into the filter drum thread (3).
