A part of the body is positioned for therapeutic treatment in that a treatment point exactly defined in relation to marks placed thereon is kept in a desired position. For this purpose, at least two video signal-generating sensors (34, 36) are oriented for observation of the marks (22, 24, 26, 28, 30). There are image-processing means (74, 76) for processing of the images (54A to 62A; 54B to 62B) of the marks in order to fix marking points (80) determined by the marks and defining the actual position of the part of the body. Furthermore, there are signal processing and regulating means (86, 88, 90; 92, 94) for calculation of the actual position from the observed position of the marking points, for comparing the actual position with a desired position and for generating adjustment signals depending on the difference between actual position and desired position. Adjustment means (102, 104, 106) are acted upon by the adjustment signals and designed to work on the part of the body. As a result, the treatment point can be brought back into the desired position on deviation from the desired position.
