A heat exchanger casing (2) of parellelpipedal form communicates directly with a generally bulbous phase sepn. chamber (5), which embraces one end edge (13) of the casing (2) and projects forward of one wall of the casing. The wall of chamber (5) is built up of a number of plates of partly cylindrical, spherical and/or ellipsoidal form welded to each other and to the walls of the casing (2).
