Mold (14) forms a cavity (32) into which concrete (18) is poured. The level (h) of concrete in the mold is measured and the it is compacted with an intensity which is a function of the result of the measurement. The level is preferably determined from the reduction of weight of a concrete hopper (44) during pouring, the density of compacted concrete and the volumetric profile of the mold.
