A window stay comprising a base member 1 which in use is fixed to a frame, a sash bar 2 which in use is fixed to one side of a sash or other moveable leaf, and a plurality of stay members pivotally interconnected to each other and to the base member. The base member includes an upstand 13 provided at one end of the base member. A first projection 10 extends away from the upstand locating a corresponding hole in the frame, and lies generally parallel to the base member. A second projection 11 extends from the upstand in an opposite direction to the first, and overlies the end of the sash bar 12, and engages an upstand thereon, when the stay is closed. The arrangement prevents the sash being pried open when closed. A catch mechanism, which allows the window to be opened to a predetermined angle, is also disclosed.
