PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recording medium good in the absorbability of pigment ink and pigment fixing properties. SOLUTION: A recording medium for pigment ink is constituted by providing A porous layer containing alumina hydrate on a base material and providing a pigment fixing layer containing flocculated particles with a mean flocculated particle size of 0.1-0.5 μm or monodisperse particles with a mean primary particle size of 0.1-0.5 μm on the surface thereof. This alumina hydrate is boehmite and flocculated particles or monodisperse particles are composed of one or more substance selected from a group consisting of silica, alumina, titanium dioxide and hydrates of them.
