PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high quality weld bead by arranging a linearized line element group in accordance with the coordinate of its starting end, assuming a perpendicular against a reference line from the starting and terminating ends of each line element, with its distance determined, and detecting one selected maximum point as the weld line. SOLUTION: A floodlight means 11 emits, by the command of its control circuit 10, a slitting light beam 12 to an object 1, 2 to be welded to form an optical cutting image Q. The multi-valued image data, in which the optical cutting image Q is picked up by a light receiving means 14, are stored in a multi-valued image storage part 22. A reference line is formed which connects the starting and terminating points of and among the continuous line element data. A distance to the reference line is determined in connection with all pixels constituting the line elements, and then, the position having a distance longer than the one adjacent to its front and rear is defined to be the maximum point, which is extracted. These maximum points are made the candidate points for a bead boundary position, which is then established among the candidate points in accordance with a predetermined rule. |
