PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator to effectively function even when a nonazide organic compound gas generating agent is used, perform well timing development of an air bag, and reduce size, weight, and cost. SOLUTION: A nitrogen contained organic compound gas generating agent 2 and a cylindrical filter member 3 are arranged, in the order, from an axis center and in a long cylindrical housing 1 having a number of gas discharge holes 5a. and an ignition device 4 is arranged at an end part to form a gas generator. In the gas generator, a flame generated from an ignition device 4 is generated from the ignition device 4 without making contact with the filter member 3. A mask member 20 to surround flame is arranged on the inner surface of the vicinity of the ignition device 4 of the filter member 3. |
