PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a safe therapeutic agent for osteoporosis capable of keeping bone amount, continuity of bone trabecula and bone strength against osteoporosis accompanied by lowering of oestrogen and administerable for a long period. SOLUTION: The therapeutic agent for osteoporosis contains an extract of irritated skin of vaccinia virus-inoculated rabbit which is a medicine containing non-proteinous active substance extracted and separated from the irritated skin tissue of rabbit to which vaccinia virus is inoculated and which is applied to low back pain, cervico-omo-brachial syndrome, periarthritis scapulo- humeralis or the like as an active ingredient. Daily doses of the extract are basically 16 neorotropin unit in the case of oral administration and 3.6-7.2 neorotropin unit in the case of injection.
