PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a d-alanine transferase useful for the screening or the like of a compound in relation to the antibiotic substance activity. SOLUTION: This new d-alanine transferase is derived from Staphyloccoccus aureus containing an amino acid sequence represented by the formula and is produced from an isolated nucleic acid molecule coding for a mature polypeptide expressible by Staphylococcus aureus WCUH29 strain (NCIMB accession number 40771) according to a recombination technique. |
