A device for temporarily covering a bone defect, such as a recess, filled with a reconstructive bone material, such as hydroxylapatite granules, in an endogenous bone has a covering membrane for the purpose of accelerating healing. The covering membrane is provided with a reinforcing layer to form a sleeve according to the present invention. The sleeve is positioned on the bone with the covering membrane on the side facing the bone and the reinforcing layer on the side facing away from the bone. The sleeve has two sealing edges which, when wrapped around the bone in the area of the bone defect, can be firmly sealed by means of connecting elements engaging the reinforcing layer.
