An illuminated sign construction having a panel of translucent material , for receiving indicia the panel defining edges, a pair of retention grooves formed in the panel adjacent one or more of the edges, on opposite sides of the panel in registration with one another, a light housing defining an elongated channel having two channel walls opposed to one another, and a web, the channel walls defining an open side, locking ribs formed along the channel walls in opposition to one another, for engageing the retention grooves in the translucent panel, lighting circuit supported in the channel, lighting devices mounted on the lighting circuit and electrically connected to receive electrical power simultaneously, and directing light into at least one edge of the panel.
