PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antimicrobial agent for preventing concrete, mortar or the like used in a sewer system from being degraded by sulfur-oxidizing bacteria. SOLUTION: This antimicrobial agent for concrete or mortar comprises a water-soluble metal compound capable of forming a compound showing poor solubility in water in the hardened concrete or mortar, and solubility in an acidic water, in the concrete or the mortar. The method for producing the antimicrobial concrete or mortar comprises adding the antimicrobial agent comprising the water-soluble metal compound as an aqueous solution to the concrete or the mortar comprising a portland cement, an aggregate and water and mixing the concrete or mortar with the added antimicrobial agent. The treating method for forming the hardened concrete or mortar into the antimicrobial material comprises allowing the aqueous solution of the antimicrobial agent comprising the water-soluble metal compound to penetrate from the surface of the hardened concrete or mortar. |
