PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable welding quality control for a high conductivity material to be welded by deciding normal/defective condition of welding based on a voltage between the materials and monitoring the consumption of a welding tip and the state of its contact with the material based on a voltage between the welding tip and the material to be welded. SOLUTION: The electrical potential of the materials W1, W2 to be welded is measured by connecting detecting electrodes 1, 2, and a voltage between the materials W1, W2 is detected by a voltage detecting part 3 for the material, with discrimination made by a part 4 for deciding normal/defective condition of welding. As a result, the quality is surely monitored without being affected by the positional change of a detecting point, consumption of a welding tip, change in the material, or the like. In addition, with a voltageΔVAN detected between the upper welding tip A and the material W1 by a part 5 for detecting such voltage, monitoring is performed by a part 6 for monitoring the upper welding tip. The lower welding tip B is also monitored similarly. Thus, the replacement is carried out at an appropriate time by monitoring the state of consumption of the upper and lower welding tips A, B as well as the state of contact with the materials W1, W2 to be welded.
