The present invention relates to a method for the identification of measles virus specific antibody in a sample comprising contacting a sample suspected of containing measles virus specific antibody with a measles virus specific glycoprotein recombinantly produced in mammalian cells using a high expression system; and detecting the presence or absence of said measles virus specific antibody in said sample. Preferably, the expression system is based on a togavirus expression system, more preferred on an alphavirus expression system, and most preferred on a Semliki Forest virus expression system. Additionally, the present invention relates to a kit comprising said recombinantly produced glycoproteins. The method of the present invention allows an easy and reliable assay of the immune status of the human with respect to the present or past infection with measles virus. |
