783,320. Batteries. AKTIEBOLAGET TUDOR. June 10, 1955 [June 11, 1954], No. 16757/55. Class 53. A lead-acid accumulator has a fluorinated wetting agent introduced into the active material, the said wetting agent being soluble in the electrolyte. The wetting agent may be introduced into the active material during the formation of the latter in the electrolyte in which the wetting agent has been dissolved. The Specification gives various fluorinated compounds, e.g. C 5 H 11 , COO.C 2 H,SO 3 M; C 8 F 17 SO 3 M; C 8 F 15 SO 3 M, where M is a cation, e.g. hydrogen, ammonium, &c., or other cation which does not interfere with the desired solubility of the compound. The Figure shows the charging P.D.s of two accumulators in which only one has a fluorinated wetting agent. |
