The cam disc coupling has a linkage coupling the cam disc (32) with a drive disc (31) integral with a drive shaft (26), with a piston (45) coupled to the cam disc for converting rotation of the drive shaft into linear reciprocation, for gas compression. The linkage mechanism uses guide pins (33b) projecting from the cam and drive discs, received in corresponding openings (35b) offset by a distance corresponding to the movement of the cam disc in response to a compression reaction.
