The present invention relates to a device mounted on a spinning preparation machine, such as a carder, a drawing frame or the like, for guiding and compressing a bundle of fibres (20) comprising at least one sliver (F). The device comprises at least two funnel-shaped guiding members (47A, 47B, 49A, 49B) which are arranged by pairs and have a plurality of successive wall surfaces along which the fibre bundle slides and is concentrated. At least one wall area (E, F, G) is provided between the input opening (47A, B) and the output opening (50A, B), wherein the fibre bundle in said area communicates with the outer atmosphere through an opening. In order to balance the compression of the fibrous material and the evacuation of air therefrom, the guiding members are formed respectively by two wall members (47A, B, 48A, B, 49A, B, 40A, B) which are facing each other and are open towards both sides, while adjacent successive wall members (47A, B, 48A, B) define an angle between each other and relative to the longitudinal axis of the device. |
