Method of interrupting the current supply for an electrical load

The method involves monitoring the current in the load (1) with a current transformer (4). If current is detected a delay count is started, after which the current is switched off. The voltage on the transformer secondary, which is proportional to the primary current, is followed and the delay sequence selected according to the maximum time for which the electrical equipment can be switched on. An Independent claim is also included for a device for interrupting the current supply to an electrical load.
