Catalytic agglomeration combustion waste gas particles

Particles are reduced in number in combustion waste gas by oxidizing the sulphur dioxide (SO2) content to sulphur trioxide in the presence of ammonia in a catalytic system having a SO2 oxidation catalytic activity which increases in the flow direction. An Independent claim is also included for equipment for carrying out the above process, the equipment comprising a catalytic unit, which is fitted in a waste gas line and which has an increasing SO2 oxidation catalytic activity the flow direction, and an ammonia supply.
