A document reader for reading information stored on a document utilizing a plurality technologies, includes means for receiving a document, and means for simultaneously reading information stored on a document utilizing a plurality of technologies. A method for reading information stored on a document utilizing one or more technologies, includes the steps of receiving a document, determining whether information is stored on a document utilizing a first technology, determining whether information is stored on a document utilizing a second technology, reading information stored on a document utilizing the first technology, and reading information stored on a document utilizing the second technology.
