At least n memories (S1....Sn+1) for temporarily store n incoming signals over defined time sections. The signal quality is evaluated against defined criteria and the memory with the best quality is read out whilst the next time section of the n signals is read into the n memories. For video signals, 2n memories are used to temporarily store two successive sub, half or full images line by line.
