A patient-support apparatus (20) includes a base (22), and a patient-support assembly (32) supported above the base (22). The patient-support assembly (32) includes a patient-support deck (84) having longitudinally spaced-apart ends (86, 88) and an elevation mechanism (90) for moving one of the ends (86, 88) of the patient-support deck (84) relative to the other of the ends (88, 86) and relative to the base (22). The elevation mechanism (90) includes a transversely extending threaded shaft (92), a pair of blocks (94) threadedly coupled to the shaft (92), and a linkage (96) coupled to the pair of blocks (94) and extending upwardly therefrom to support the end (86, 88) of the patient support deck (84). The pair of blocks (94) move transversely in response to rotation of the threaded shaft (92). The linkage (96) is configured to move the end (86, 88) of the patient-support deck (84) relative to the base (22) in response to transverse movement of the blocks (94). |
