Wetting agent in water (4) is applied to the yarn sheet (1) while the warp beam (5) is being wound. The beam is stored and in a second operation the yarn is heated by steam jets (9) after which highly viscous size (8) is applied to the yarn surface. The tension is kept high throughout to reduce penetration into the yarn.
