Cleaning waste gas from electrically heated ovens

Waste gas from electrically heated ovens is cleaned by preheating and passing the gas through a porous slag obtained from the production of alloy steels to remove inorganic and organic components. Process for the integrated cleaning of waste gas of inorganic material such as acids and metal vapors, organic materials such hydrocarbons and CO and halogen containing hydrocarbons and silicones from electrically heated ovens and drying cabinets uses porous slag from the production of alloy steels such as chrome-nickel steel in electrical melting ovens as a reaction mass that has a free CaO content of 10-80 %, contains chromium metal and metal oxide admixtures as reactive components and is gas permeable by means of calcium silicate. An Independent claim is also included for a device to carry out the process in which a channel having a width of 50-200 mm and depth that is a factor of 10 smaller is located within the ceramic outer wall of the electrically heated oven and leads to a reaction chamber that partially lies within and partially outside of the outer wall.
