An electric artificial larynx (1) is provided with a sound generating unit (3) which is held by an interposed means (2) directly or indirectly attached to the human body (10) and is always locatable near the neck (10a), and a portable control unit (4) separated from the sound generating unit (3) and actuates the sound generating unit (3). The control unit (4) is preferably constituted of a control signal generating unit comprising a sensor for collecting living body information or a switch (12) for feeding a signal, and a control unit (16) having a power source unit (15) for driving and controlling the sound generating unit (3) according to the signal from the control signal generating unit and supplies electric power to the sound generating unit (3). It is possible to output sound from the sound generating unit (3) by utilizing sound source data generated from data on the voice of the person before laryngectomy and to detachably connect a means for storing voice data for singing a song to the control unit (4).
